Choose the region before the lodge
A lodge location determines how much of each day is spent travelling. Start with three consecutive nights in the main wildlife area, then decide whether the crater or Tarangire fits. A beautiful room alone does not justify a long transfer. During the November southward movement, guides need flexibility to respond to that year’s rainfall.
The northern circuit and southern or western parks are separate itinerary choices. Avoid crossing the country just to collect lodges. Mahale is a chimpanzee-focused extension; Katavi and Ruaha deserve dedicated time. The cover shows Serengeti habitat, not a particular hotel.
How to compare November prices
Research checked on 14 September 2026; prices refer to November 2026. These are published seasonal rates, starting rates or a labelled operator package, not average transaction prices or confirmed availability. Per-person and per-room rates are different; full board does not automatically include game drives. Properties without a reliable published rate require a dated quote.
Dunia Camp
South-central Serengeti. Women-run tented camp near Moru Kopjes, focused on guiding and wildlife.
Year-round wildlife; March-June and November-December for passing migration herds. November is a strong choice.

Namiri Plains
Eastern Serengeti. Big-cat country with spacious suites, deck bathtubs, pool and spa.
June-September for dry-season viewing; October-February for photography and quieter visits. November showers need not prevent good sightings.

Serengeti Explorer
Nyaboro Hills, Serengeti. Contemporary lodge with an infinity pool, photographic hide and stargazing facilities.
Year-round resident wildlife; May-July is the usual western migration window. November suits comfort-led stays rather than a western migration peak.
US$900 per double room per night, full board; US$1,380 with the game package. The latter includes shared drives and Seronera transfers. Park-related fees extra.
Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti
Central Serengeti. Full-service lodge with a pool overlooking a waterhole. Animal visits are never guaranteed.
Year-round; June-October is generally drier. November works for combining game drives and time at the lodge.

Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge
Seronera area, Serengeti. Traditional thatched stone rooms on an acacia ridge, with a pool and plains views.
Year-round resident wildlife; June-October is drier. November is suitable for central Serengeti drives.

Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge
Arusha. Coffee-estate cottages for a night before or after safari; closer to Arusha Airport than Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Sand Rivers
Nyerere National Park. Open-fronted rooms beside the Rufiji River, combining drives, walking and boat safaris.

Greystoke Mahale
Mahale Mountains National Park. Lake Tanganyika bandas backed by forest, with chimpanzee tracking and lake activities.
June-October, especially August-October, for a drier visit. November is open but wetter; this is a specialist forest and lake trip.

Chada Katavi
Katavi National Park. Six classic tents overlooking Chada floodplain, with walking safaris and large mammal viewing.
July-October is strongest. For November 2026, consider only 1-12 November; the dated rate grid shows closure from 13 November. Confirm dates because the rate-sheet summary differs.
US$910 per person per night for 1-12 November; minimum three nights. Meals, standard drinks, activities and nearest-airstrip transfers included; park and evacuation charges extra. No mid-to-late November stay should be assumed.
