Separate three accommodation products

Skukuza and Lower Sabie belong to the SANParks public rest-camp system. They suit travellers willing to organise their own route, meals and timing. Unit codes, base occupancy, kitchens and bathroom arrangements affect the comparison. Reserving a bungalow does not automatically reserve a guide, vehicle or daily meals. Request the same occupancy and facilities when comparing public-camp prices.

Private lodges also need a geographic distinction. Londolozi Varty lies in Sabi Sand, while Singita Lebombo occupies a private concession within Kruger National Park. Kruger Gate Hotel is outside the park near Paul Kruger Gate. All can support a Kruger-area trip, but their daily movements cannot be planned using one interchangeable set of gates and public roads. Check access before arranging a camp sequence

Dry- and green-season preferences must be translated into roads that are usable and accommodation that can receive you. SANParks issued camp recovery and opening updates in 2026. A route described in an older itinerary is not a current access confirmation. Before paying, consult the park's latest notices and have the property confirm the entrance, approach road and expected driving time for your arrival.

Public-camp self-driving must fit park and camp gate hours. Book approved guided activities if you want a night drive or a walk. A private lodge's programme operates within its own permitted area, and practices available there should not be transferred to Kruger's public roads. Ask about current operating conditions alongside your seasonal wildlife questions rather than treating a booking confirmation as confirmation that every road is open.

Skukuza Rest Camp

Skukuza is a major public rest camp beside the Sabie River. It is a candidate for a southern self-drive base; compare the actual accommodation units in the SANParks system.

Check kitchen and bathroom facilities and the number of people in the base rate. Budget separately for your car, meals, conservation charges and guided activities rather than treating the unit as an inclusive safari package.

Lower Sabie Rest Camp

Lower Sabie is a riverbank rest camp, with Sunset Dam and a bird hide among nearby points listed by SANParks. It suits a route assigning time to river habitat.

If a preferred waterside unit is unavailable, compare the location and facilities of alternatives. Avoid an overlong driving day merely to change room type. A river address is not a promise of leopard sightings.

Londolozi Varty Camp

Varty is one of Londolozi's camps in Sabi Sand. Londolozi's published inclusions list meals, twice-daily drives, walks and transfers from its own airstrip.

Check exclusive vehicles, photographic equipment and external flights separately. Request the actual Varty room category, not a rate from another Londolozi camp, and obtain the property's recommended arrival route.

Singita Lebombo Lodge

Lebombo's published 2026 off-peak double-suite rate includes meals, beverages, twice-daily drives, walks and return road transfers from Satara airstrip.

The amount is per sharing adult, not the total for a double suite. Tourism and carbon levies, transport into the reserve and wellness treatments are excluded. Two-bedroom suites and the villa use different unit-based pricing.

Kruger Gate Hotel

Kruger Gate Hotel provides a conventional hotel base outside the national park. It is useful to compare when hotel facilities matter and park visits will be arranged separately.

Meal plans and safari packages need separate inspection. Confirm admission, vehicle, guide, pickup and departure timing line by line rather than assuming every product carrying the safari label includes all of them.

Turn three nights into a complete trip budget

For a public-camp stay, add the unit, rental car, fuel, food, conservation charges and separately booked guided activities. For a private lodge, start with the inclusions and add transport into the reserve, levies, any exclusive vehicle and optional services. This makes the difference in cost understandable. A lower room charge alone cannot tell you which trip will cost less after the vehicle and activities have been arranged.

To try both styles, request a southern public-camp stay followed by Sabi Sand and ask both parties to agree the handover route. Do not estimate the connection from a straight line on the map. Families should state children's ages at the enquiry stage. Being accepted in a room does not mean a child can join every shared drive or walk, and a required private vehicle may change the total materially.
